FAQ

Questions parents ask before the first call

Getting started

Is the first call really free?

Yes. Twenty minutes, no cost, no obligation, to work out whether coaching is the right fit for your family.

Do we need a formal diagnosis?

No. Families come with a diagnosis, a suspicion, or just the sense that something at home isn’t working.

Who attends the sessions?

Whoever the session is for. 1:1 sessions are with your child or teen; parent coaching sessions are with you. Many families use both.

How soon can we start?

Tell Kelly what you are hoping for when you book the free call, and she will be straight with you about her current availability. If something is urgent, say so and she will tell you honestly what she can fit in.

Practical

Is coaching the same as therapy?

No. Coaching is practical and forward-looking: tools, plans, and accountability. It does not diagnose or treat, and it works well alongside therapy.

Where do you meet in person?

In person across Central New Jersey. Virtual sessions are available anywhere, and plenty of families mix the two.

Do you take insurance?

Coaching is not therapy and not a medical service, so it works differently from a clinical appointment. Kelly will walk you through how payment works on the free 20-minute call, before you commit to anything.

What if we need to cancel?

Life in a neurodivergent household is unpredictable. Let Kelly know as soon as you know, and she will do her best to move the session rather than have you lose it.

Do you work with our school?

Kelly can help you prepare for an IEP or 504 meeting: what to ask for, how to frame it, what to bring. If you would like her more involved than that, raise it on the free call and she will tell you what she can do.
